North Carolina will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Halifax Resolves—a pivotal moment in American history that took place in Halifax. This landmark event was the first official action by an entire colony calling for independence from Great Britain, paving the way for the Declaration of Independence just three months later.
As the "Birthplace of American Independence," Halifax County is proud to host a series of special events, activities, and commemorations at the State Historic Site and throughout the county to honor this historic milestone.
